I only recieved my extigy from amazon yesterday, and im pleased to say that it hasnt given me any nasty surprises.. It sounds excellent, especially when playing dvds, i sampled pearl harbour to test the soundcard out, and it was impressive.. Only bad thing i have to say is that, maybe occasionally you may hear a hiccup in the sound, and/or the remote control will stop responding for a minute or so.. Id still strongly recommend it though!!

Excellent addition to Laptop  |
I purchased the Extigy controller along with CreativeLabs Inspire 5.1 speakers when looking for improving sound output from a new laptop (desktop replacement).The choice of a USB controller for sound was the best option as the standard speaker port on laptops just cant output the range one needs to enjoy audio (any). Overall, sound quality is excellet, but I do have an annoying issue with the Extigy. When playing audio CDs you will encounter an occassional pop or skip in the music. It looks like the USB controller cant keep up sometimes. Of course, if you remove "digital audio playback" in your audio program (Windows Media, Real, etc.) youll remedy this but you lose the sound expansion benefits the Extigy provides. Im looking further into this "pop and crackle" problem but convinced its related to the USB (doesnt happen through the laptop speakers). Combine the Extigy with the 5100 5.1 speakers and you wont be disappointed.

I bought the Extigy one week ago, I pluged my PS2 and DVD player into it, it sounds awesome. Although my 2 yrs old laptop is only 600hz with 128ram, the Extigy works on it perfectly well. Not only a lot of improvements comparing to the old sound card, but I can listen to Mp3 and watch movie in true 5.1 Dolby Digital sound. All in all, I love this product and its worth for its price, I highly recommend it to everyone.
